About My reef

My reef tank has been setup since November 2007.

The main tank is 6 foot x 2 foot x 2 foot.

The tank has a sump that is 40 inch x 18 inch x 18 inch which I built myself.

Below are some pictures of the setup of my tank.

I use an Ocean Runner 6500 lph pump to pump the water from sump to the tank and the water returns to the sump via durso standpipes situated in a weir in each corner.

In addition the sump pump I also incorporate several flow making devices to create flow around the tank.

I have around 120 kilo's of live rock and have a 6" deep sand bed in my sump, this helps keep nitrates below 10.

As well as the natural filters above I run a V2 1200 skimmer to remove proteins from the system and use phosphate removing media.
